A dog has bitten a 4- year-old girl on a bus in Queens, New York, authorities said on Monday.

The incident happened in the Bronx neighborhood of Astoria early Monday morning, according to the city’s Department of Investigation and Criminal Investigation.

The girl was transported to Elmhurst Hospital and is expected to survive, the NYPD said in a statement.

The NYPD said the dog is now being evaluated for rabies.

The investigation into the attack was continuing and no further details were immediately available.
